இன்னன்னா அல்லது இஷ்தர் (Inanna or Ishtar [a] மெசொப்பொத்தேமியாவின் பண்டைய சுமேரியப் பெண் கடவுள் ஆவார். உரூக் காலத்தில் இப்பெண் தெய்வத்தை இன்னன்னா என அழைத்தனர். பின்னர் புது பாபிலோனியப் பேரரசு காலத்தில் இப்பெண் கடவுளை இஷ்தர் என அழைத்தனர். அன்பு, காதல், அழகு, செழிப்பு, போர் மற்றும் வீரத்திற்கு இப்பெண் கடவுளே அதிபதி ஆவார். எஸ்தர் எனும் பெண் கடவுளுக்கு நிகராக இந்து சமயத்தில் துர்கையும், பண்டைய கிரேக்கத்தில் அப்ரோடிட்டும் குறிக்கப்படுகிறது.
சுமேரியர்கள் இன்னன்னா எனும் பெயரில் வணங்கிய எஸ்தர் எனும் இப்பெண் கடவுளை, சுமேரியர்களுக்குப் பின்னர் மெசொப்பொத்தேமியாவை ஆண்ட அக்காடியர்களும், பாபிலோனியர்களும், அசிரியர்களும், இஷ்தர் தெய்வத்திற்கு கோயில்கள் கட்டி வழிபட்டனர்.
இஸ்தர் எனும் பெண் கடவுள் சொர்க்கத்தின் அரசி என அழைக்கப்பட்டார். பண்டைய உரூக் நகரத்தில் எஸ்தர் வழிபாடு சிறப்புடன் விளங்கியது. எஸ்தர் கடவுள், வெள்ளி கோளுடன் தொடர்புறுத்தப்படுகிறார்.[4][5]
இஸ்தர் கடவுளின் சின்னங்களாக சிங்கம், எட்டு முனை நட்சத்திரம், சிங்கம் அறியப்படுகிறது. பெண் கடவுளான உஸ்தரின் கணவராக தம்முசும், மெய்காவலராக சுக்கலும் அறியப்படுகிறார்கள். மேலும் இஸ்தர் பெண் கடவுள் சொர்க்கத்தின் அரசி என்றும் நள்ளிரவின் இராணி என்றும் அறியப்படுகிறார்.
கிமு 4000 முதல் கிமு 3100 முடிய உரூக் காலத்தில் சுமேரியாவின் உரூக் நகரத்தில் இஷ்தர் தெய்வத்தை இன்னன்னா எனும் பெயரில் வணங்கினர். பின்னர் சுமேரியர்களை வென்ற அக்காடியப் பேரரசர் சர்கோன் ஆட்சிக் காலத்திலிருந்து, இன்னன்னா எனும் இப்பெண் கடவுளை இஸ்தர் எனும் பெயரில் பல கோயில்கள் மெசொப்பொத்தேமியா முழுவதும் எழுப்பபட்டது. மெசொப்பொத்தேமியா மக்கள் நீண்ட நேர உடல் உறவை வேண்டி இஸ்தர் கடவுளை பண்டைய அண்மைக் கிழக்கு நகரங்களில் சிறப்பாக வழிப்பட்டனர்.[6][7]
புதிய சமயங்களான கிறித்துவம் மற்றும் இசுலாம் வருகையால், சிறப்புடன் விளங்கிய இஸ்தர் வழிபாடு, கிபி மூன்றாம் நூற்றாண்டு முதல் ஆறாம் நூற்றாண்டு வரை சிறிது சிறிதாக வீழ்ச்சியடைந்து, கிபி எட்டாம் நூற்றாண்டில் மெசொப்பொத்தேமியா முழுவதும் மறைந்து போயிற்று. இருப்பினும் கிபி 18-ஆம் நூற்றாண்டு வரை வடக்கு மெசொப்பொத்தேமியாவின் சில பகுதிகளில் இஸ்தர் வழிபாடு வழக்கில் இருந்தது.[8][9][10]

பாபிலோனியப் பேரரசர் இரண்டாம் நெபுகாத்நேசர், கிமு 575ல் பாபிலோன் நகரத்தில் கட்டிய இஷ்தர் கோயிலுக்கு நுழைவாயில் எழுப்பினார். இந்நுழைவாயிலின் முன் சிங்கச் சிற்பம் நிறுவப்பட்டுள்ளது.[11]
