உமா குமரன் (Uma Kumaran) என்பவர் பிரித்தானிய அரசியல்வாதியும், நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினரும் ஆவார். தொழிற் கட்சி உறுப்பினரான இவர் இசுட்ராட்ஃபோர்டு-போ தொகுதியை சூலை 2024 முதல் பிரதிநிதித்துவப்படுத்துகிறார்.

தொடக்க வாழ்க்கை[தொகு]

உமா குமரன் இலங்கைத் தமிழ் பெற்றோருக்கு கிழக்கு இலண்டனில் பிறந்தார்.[1][2] இலங்கை உள்நாட்டுப் போரில் புலம் பெயர்ந்து இலண்டன் வந்து சேர்ந்த இவரது பெற்றோருக்கு, அவர்களது குடியேற்ற வழக்கில் தொழிற் கட்சியின் நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் செரமி கோர்பின் உதவி செய்தார்.[3] இவரது குடும்பம் பின்னர் ஹரோ நகருக்கு இடம்பெயர்ந்தது, அங்கு உமா பென்ட்லி வுட் உயர் பாடசாலையிலும், செயிண்ட் டொமினிக் கல்லூரியிலும் கல்வி கற்றார்.[4][5] பின்னர் அவர் இலண்டன் குயீன் மேரி பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் அரசியலில் இளங்கலைப் பட்டத்தையும், முதுகலைப் பட்டத்தையும் பெற்றார்.[3][6]

பணி[தொகு]

உமா குமரன் மார்ச் 2009 முதல் ஆகத்து 2010 வரை தொழிற்கட்சி நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் டான் பட்லரின் நாடாளுமன்ற ஆய்வாளராகவும், வழக்கறிஞராகவும் பணியாற்றினார்.[5][7][8] செப்டம்பர் 2010 முதல் திசம்பர் 2014 வரை இசுலிங்டன் நகரசபையில் தொழிற்கட்சிக் குழுவில் பணியாற்றினார்.[5][9] அவர் சாதிக் கானின் மூத்த பரப்புரை ஆலோசகராகவும் (மே 2015 முதல் அக்டோபர் 2015 வரை), உள்ளூராட்சி சங்கத்தில் (அக்டோபர் 2015 முதல் நவம்பர் 2017 வரை) அரசியல் ஆலோசகராகவும் இருந்தார்.[6][10] பின்னர் நவம்பர் 2017 முதல் ஆகத்து 2020 வரை லண்டன் நகர முதல்வர் சாதிக் கானின் மூத்த ஆலோசகராகப் பணியாற்றினார்.[6][11] செப்டம்பர் 2020 முதல் மார்ச் 2022 வரை தொழிற்கட்சித் தலைவர் கீர் இசுட்டார்மரின் நாடாளுமன்ற விவகாரங்களுக்கான துணை இயக்குநராகப் பணியாற்றினார்.[6][12] ஏப்ரல் 2022 முதல் மே 2024 வரை சி40 நகரங்களின் காலநிலைத் தலைமைக் குழுவிற்கான வெளியுறவு மற்றும் பன்னாட்டு உறவுகளின் இயக்குநராக இருந்தார்.[6][13][14]

அரசியலில்[தொகு]

உமா குமரன் 2010 ஆம் ஆண்டு உள்ளாட்சித் தேர்தல்களில் லண்டன் பரோ ஆஃப் ஹாரோ தொகுதியில் தொழிற் கட்சி கட்சி வேட்பாளர்களில் ஒருவராகப் போட்டியிட்டார், ஆனால் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்படவில்லை.[15] நவம்பர் 2013 இல், ஹாரோ கிழக்கில் அதன் வேட்பாளராக தொழிற் கட்சியால் உமா தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டார்.[5][16] 2015 பொதுத் தேர்தல் பரப்புரையின்போது, ​உமாவும் லிபரல் டெமக்கிராட்சு வேட்பாளரும், பழமைவாதக் கட்சியின் உறுப்பினர் முக்கேஷ் நாக்கர் என்பவரால் நிறுவப்பட்ட தர்ம சேவா பூர்வபட்சா என்ற அமைப்பால் சாதிப் பாகுபாட்டுக்கு எதிரான சட்டத்திற்கு 2013 இல் ஆதரவளித்தமைக்காகத் தாக்கப்பட்டனர்.[17][18][19] 2015 பொதுத்தேர்தலில் உமா குமரன் தோற்கடிக்கப்பட்டார்.[20][21] மே 2024 இல், புதிதாக உருவாக்கப்பட்ட இசுட்ராட்ஃபோர்ட்-போ தொகுதியில் தொழிற்கட்சியின் வேட்பாளராக உமா குமரன் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டார்.[22][23] 2024 பொதுத்தேர்தலில் உமா 11,634 வாக்குகள் பெரும்பான்மையுடன் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டு முதல் தடவையாக நாடாளுமன்றம் சென்றார்.[24][25]
